Our Holiday

Well Lance told me I had to organise to have a few days off work from Friday through to Tuesday to have a mini holiday together. My clever man organised a lovely holiday away for us and managed to keep what we were doing a total secret (yep I couldn't get it out of him no matter how hard I tried! Actually to be honest he wanted to show me where we were staying at one point but I didn't let him :)

So he took me down south to Eagle Bay (close to Margaret River, Dunsborough etc.) and had organised for us to stay in this beautiful motel type room at this very private lodge which only has two rooms. The view was beautiful, the room was just so great with a spa, split cycle aircon, lovely veranda and bbque and the decor was just so great. All the lovely little touches where there too like Margaret river aromatherapy soaps, Margaret river mineral waters etc. So we had breaky delivered to us and Lance had someone come and give us full body massages (sooo relaxing). It was 5 days of bliss!

I told u that you'd see the spaaaaa again - yes I have to extend the a's as part of the aaaahhhhh you do when you get into a lovely warm spa bath.

Sorri you have to wade through more room pictures - see for me its all memories and I do so love luxurious and beautiful surroundings and am so proud of Lance in picking the perfect lodgings for us.

Don't I look relaxed? I guess I should have had a "before and after" picture taken and then it would be more obvious - perhaps the white hotel robe gives it away. By the way - you have no idea how hard it was to get Lance to stop making silly faces and poses and just smile for the picture.

See I caught him trying to read the paper - I have to say even though I often like to annoy him and anything I can to distract him from reading the paper... it is good that someone takes the time to read it so we know what's happening in the world :)

Abundance

Abundance was the name of the apartment/house we stayed at in Eagle Bay. Lance picked the perfect place to stay. It was so peaceful. There was a dam and a few ponds and you could lay in bed and hear the frogs in the evening. You could sit out on the veranda and just gaze at the beautiful view - see Lance trying it out after his long drive (yes he chauffered me all the way - I'm not a good passenger I felt a little impatient during the 3 hour drive - car sick).

The day bed was so posh but I didn't get a chance to use it. I did love the bathroom with the windows overlooking the garden too. O - can you see a glimpse of the spa - don't worry you'll get to see it again later :)

The Lighthouse

Friday we pretty much settled into our accommodation and then had lovely wood fired gourmet pizzas for dinner and just enjoyed each other's company - no work, no telephones, no interruptions, no teddi or Cale (as much as we love them) - just us (and sleep in's for 5 days) - it was great!

Then on Saturday Lance drove me to the lighthouse in Augusta. See the great bush on the way? The trees were quite magnificient actually (even though I do love pine forrests the best).

I begged Lance to stop at many of the art galleries along the way, O and the Meadery with lovely honey wines and liquers... for some reason he really didn't want to stop but he did anyway (after much begging) just 'cos he loves me I guess (or wanted to have some peace :) and so we did lots of little detours - this point may seem trivial but I am setting the scene so remember this for later.

So we got to Augusta and the big white lighthouse (3rd largest in Australia). We walked around the grounds and then went on the big tour up 55 steps and lots of metres (sorry I forgot how many metres but suffice to say - it was huge!).

In case you were wondering - this isn't a "glamour" holiday so expect to see me in trackie dacks (Aussie for track suit) for most of the holidays. And, it is winter so I apologies in advance for any bad hair days. Ok, now that we've got the 'disclaimers' outta the way lets get on with it!

After trying to push the lighthouse over for awhile (har har) we decided to climb it. The walls were so thick (2 metres at the base) and the view was great. Actually I felt quite queezy walking around the small balcony up so high, especially with the wind blowing a gale - I thought I might get blown away and had wobbly knees for awhile afterwards. Lance of course wasn't phased at at. On the way down I kept looks through the holes in the stairs and you could see all the way down the stair spiral to the bottom - yikes!
We bought ourselves a little minature white lighthouse to commemorate the occasion.

The Proposal

So after coming down from the lighthouse Lance suggested we

walk along the rocks and we sat next to each other and cuddled in the wind and enjoyed the view. Lance then told me how much he loved me and wanted to look after Cale and I and asked me to marry him and produced a beautiful solitare diamond ring. He totally surprised me and it was so lovely. Lance admitted afterwards that he was very nervous (with wanting to make it perfect and all) and that was why he hadn't wanted to stop along the way (of course I then felt a little guilty for dragging it out more :)

So after that I was so excited and even though the ring was a little too big I wore it on my next biggest finger and it was just perfect.

We then proceeded to call each other 'fiance' all afternoon which we decided was a little too posh for us and and so it got shortened to fonsay and other such silly things - still seems funny to call someone your "fiance"???

Pub Lunch

Here you go! Lance having a spa! Yes - he wasn't too impressed with me taking a sneak shot - he he.

Lance took me to a beautiful pub for lunch. The food was great and the gardens were beautiful.

I'll share a little secret - the pic with Lance and I wasn't taken by a 3rd party - the camera was perched on a step with a timer and lance ran back to me as fast as he could and we acted as if we'd had all the time in the world to pose when really it was a mad dash for positions :)

See the picture I took when I stopped to wait for him to catch up - if you only could've seen the dirty look he gave me earlier when I said we'd just walk a little further :)

During our holiday Lance took me to another lighthouse as well. He did take me in the wrong direction though :) so we walked for ages and didn't get there and then once we found out it was it the other direction we settled for taking silly pictures in front of it as opposed to climbing to the top (I wasn't complaining after the last climb :)

The scenery was quite beautiful and still sunny even though it's winter.

Lance and I took some little tracks through the gardens and went on a nice long walk to work off lunch. Even though Lance goes to the gym just about every day and is into lifting weights and riding his mountain bike... he isn't very good at walking and doesn't like walking or manage to keep up with me.
