House Warming Party

Last night we had our house warming party! First one I've ever held! We prepared for a week or so to get everything perfect... it was a great motivator to do all those things we've been putting off etc. :)

By the time the party came round we were both "dead on our feet" and totally exhausted... Anyway, the house looked great and there was enough food at the bbque with some leftover. Everyone complimented the house and food and a good time was had by all. It was great to catch up with all our friends.

I didn't end up getting pics of the party 'cos it was just too busy - so I took pics of the house afterwards - notice I've not included any of the kitchen - of course that's 'cos we still have heaps of dishes to do :)

Teddi had a great time at the party and was apparently fed all types of things - chips, meat, dips, fruit, salad etc... When we have visitors Teddi likes to do "rounds" for pats... he was getting pretty tired at the party though - so many people and so many pats! :)

So now we're having a nice relaxing Sunday and thinking that the next party will be a little smaller - we had 40 RSVPs for last night and must've had at least 40-45 people show! The best thing about having a big family is that I could give the leftovers to Mum and Dad and nothing was wasted! And now we have heapz of extra wine from gifts too!

So... I've included pics of the different areas in the house so that if u couldn't attend - u can virtually! I didn't take all rooms and areas 'cos there would be too many pics...

Lounge and Dining area

This is part of the open plan living areas - we planted a fernery which all the way along the outside of the house, and Lance put in some great lights so at night time the whole fernery is lit up and makes a great feature.

I love how we have wooden floors as I can't imagine how dirty the carpets would get with Teddi and Cale running around!

Games rooms

This is part of the open plan living area. The people who built the house had a custom made pool table put in which is great. This weekend Lance made a cute little outside area for Teddi, with grass and a sand pit for digging - Teddi loves it! Isn't Lance clever? He seems to be a "Jack of all Trades" like Dad! I'm so lucky to find another guy like Dad who is so handy and handsome at the same time :)

The games room leads out to the main paved outside area which is great for parties and stuff.

Out back

I haven't included pics of the main paved area as we still gotta clean up from last night :) But see the cute dartboard Lance put up... and the fernery is coming along - the plants still have to grow quite a bit tho - some of them will reach 7 mtrs in height! Once they grow a bit we are going to enclose the area with wire and have finches and canaries in the fernery - I can't wait!
We also planted some jasmine along the fence lines - the plan is to cover over the fences with vines, and the jasmine will smell sooo nice.

Library and entrance

This is the room which comes off the main entrance... we don't have enough furniture in here to use it properly yet, so bean bags have to do! The plan is to have a formal library/sitting room as there are huge windows which let in lots of light.

It's a nice area to relax, removed from the rest of the house, and also leads out to the courtyard.

Main Bathroom & Water closet

Here's the main bathroom which I love 'cos my ferns grow so well in here! They love the filtered light and humidity.

There's a separate water closet (toilet). It's so great to have two toilets and bathrooms so no one has to wait!

Master Bedroom

This is the master bedroom! It's lovely and big and we have a huge walk in wardrobe, bathroom and separate water closet (or toilet). Its great to have so much space with great big windows. We even have our own TV so if we want to lay in bed and watch a movie - we can!

Other rooms

Here's Cale's room - it's so big - and he has a great huge walk in robe where we keep his toys and stuff - he and his friends love playing in it. The double bed bunk is great as it saves so much space.

There are two other rooms as well. One is used as a study and the other is a spare room. Eventually we'd like to get a kingsize bed suite in the master bedroom and we can then move our bedroom suite into the spare room so we have a completely set up room for guests and stuff.

The laundry room is nice and big and leads to an outside area with paving, laundry line etc. There's enough space out there to build a shed and plant a veggie garden and stuff.

Front gardens

We've put so much work into these gardens and it's starting to pay off... although the plants have a lot of growing to do to achieve the desired effects!

It's so great to have an enclosed garage with a remote control door as well... it means I can unload the shopping and leave the car open and stuff without worrying and also that everything is more secure whilst we are away, there's more room in the driveway etc.

Lance put in a great retaining wall feature which looks great and the lawn has come nice and green (the watering is working!). We have to cover over some of the more delicate plants in the heat of summer as they get burnt when we're having 38 to 40 degree hot summer days!
